Summary :
Noting the rapid world wide growth of Micro-finance Institutions, a team from the World Bank produced a Policy Research Working Paper entitled " A framework for regulating micro-finance institutions .
Two countries have been selected for field research and assessment: the Philippines and Ghana because they both have a vast range of informal, formal and semi formal Micro-finance Institutions. Work on the possibility of developing a sustainable rural micro-finance in Indonesia allowed the question of the legal and regulating environment to be developed.
